PDPW Launches 'Dairy Signal' (Industry in Crisis Updates)
USAgNet - 04/07/2020

In response to the devastating effects the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the dairy industry, the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin is rolling out its all new Dairy Signal online informational resource center. Director Shelly Mayer told Wisconsin Ag Connection that the idea was sparked from President Franklin Roosevelt's Fireside Chats during World World II, a time when the nation was also facing turmoil.

"Things are changing rapidly every day for producers and it's hard to stay on top of how the Coronavirus is impacting our industry as a whole," Mayer said. "The Dairy Signal will consist of free online discussions by renowned dairy experts from around the world, presented three times a week, available in real-time or on demand for later viewing."

The presentations will be featured on PDPW's website from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for several weeks.

Mayer says dairy farmers, processors and other industry leaders are invited to take part.

Here is the line-up of this week's presenters:

TUESDAY, APRIL 7
** Mark Stephenson, UW-Madison Director of Dairy Policy Analysis
** Chad Vincent, CEO of Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8
** Dr. David Kohl, Professor Emeritus-Virginia Tech
** Jason Karszes, Cornell University/PRO-DAIRY program
