Timber Stand Improvement Workshop Oct. 12 at Lincoln U
Missouri Ag Connection - 09/13/2019

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is partnering with Lincoln University to host a free workshop introducing landowners to the benefits of Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) practices.

The workshop will take place 8 a.m. -- noon on Oct. 12 at Lincoln University's Alan T. Busby Farm, 5124 Goller Road in Jefferson City.

MDC Forester Cory Gregg will explain different techniques of performing TSI to benefit forest health, wildlife habitat, and timber value. These techniques include how many trees to remove, which trees to remove, different methods to consider, and more.

Weather permitting, the workshop will also include a visit to nearby forest plots that have been improved through TSI.

"Timber Stand Improvement is one of the best ways for landowners to manage their woods," said Gregg. "No matter if you have 10 acres or 100, some level of TSI is needed, and can improve your woods according to your desired objectives."

Register for this free workshop by Oct. 10 at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/169185, or by contacting Cory Gregg at (573) 796-0286, ext. 4285, or cory.gregg@mdc.mo.gov

MDC works with you and for you to sustain healthy forests, fish, and wildlife.
