Missouri Crops Showing Mixed Forecasts

Missouri corn: Planted area is estimated at 3.65 million acres, up 6 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 3.38 million acres, is up 3 percent from 2020. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri corn yield is forecast at 169 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from 2020. Production is forecast at 571 million bushels, 2 percent above last year's production.

Missouri soybeans: Planted area is estimated at 5.70 million acres, down 3 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 5.65 million acres, is down 3 percent from 2020. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri soybean yield is forecast at 51 bushels per acre, up 1 bushel from 2020. Production is forecast at 288.2 million bushels, down 1 percent from 2020.

Missouri cotton: Planted area is estimated at 315,000 acres, up 7 percent from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 310,000 acres, up 8 percent from last year. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri cotton yield is forecast at 1,316 pounds per acre, up 172 pounds from last year. Production is forecast at 850,000 bales (480-pound), up 24 percent from last year.

Missouri rice: Planted area, estimated at 199,000 acres, is down 13 percent from 2020. Harvested area is forecast at 194,000 acres, down 9 percent from last year. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri rice yield is forecast at 8,000 pounds per acre, up 750 pounds per acre from 2020. Production is forecast at 15.5 million cwt, down less than 1 percent from last year.
