Missouri Corn, Soybean, Rice Production Up Double Digits

Corn: Planted area is estimated at 3.50 million acres, up 9 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 3.35 million acres, is up 12 percent from 2019. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri corn yield is forecast at 169 bushels per acre, down 6 bushels from last month but up 14 bushels from 2019. Production is forecast at 566 million bushels, 22 percent above last year's production.

Soybeans: Planted area is estimated at 5.60 million acres, up 10 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 5.55 million acres, is up 11 percent from 2019. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri soybean yield is forecast at 51 bushels per acre, up 5 bushels from 2019. Production is forecast at 283 million bushels, up 23 percent from 2019.

Cotton: Planted area is estimated at 295,000 acres, down 22 percent from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 287,000 acres, is down 22 percent from last year. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri cotton yield is forecast at 1,204 pounds per acre, up 11 pounds from last year. Production is forecast at 720,000 bales (480-pound), down 21 percent from last year.

Rice: Planted area, estimated at 228,000 acres, is up 4 percent from the previous forecast and up 22 percent from 2019. Harvested area is forecast at 215,000 acres, up less than 1 percent from the previous forecast and up 24 percent from last year. Based on September 1 conditions, the Missouri rice yield is forecast at 7,500 pounds per acre, unchanged from the previous forecast but up 130 pounds per acre from 2019. Production is forecast at 16.1 million cwt, up 27 percent from last year.
