47.5-Mile Trail to Connect Kansas City to Katy Trail to St. Louis
Missouri Ag Connection - 12/05/2016

On Dec. 10, Gov. Jay Nixon will cut the ribbon on a trail that will connect the Kansas City area with Missouri's world-renowned Katy Trail and give bicyclists and walkers an uninterrupted path of almost 300 miles all the way to the St. Louis area. The new section of the trail will follow the corridor of the old Rock Island Railroad for 47.5 miles from Pleasant Hill to Windsor, where there will be a junction with the current Katy Trail State Park.

"This will be a day for Missourians to celebrate, as our outstanding Katy Trail connects to Kansas City on this new trail," Gov. Nixon said. "What a great opportunity this will be for Missourians of all ages and visitors from across the country and around the world to enjoy this fantastic cross-state trail."

People are invited to ride or walk the new trail with Gov. Nixon after he cuts the ribbon at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10.
