Prescribed Burn Workshop Dec. 1 at El Dorado Springs

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free prescribed burn workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Circle S Feed Company in El Dorado Springs. There will also be a demonstration burn at a grassland from 1 to 3
p.m.
Prescribed burns are an effective way to encourage native plant growth and to reduce unwanted or invasive plant species. Burns can benefit both grazing grasslands and wild lands managed for wildlife habitat.
Participants will learn how to plan burns, personnel and equipment needed, smoke management, weather effects, timing burns according to management goals, and how to do follow-up evaluations.
A free lunch will be provided. The demonstration burn will be conducted if weather permits. Participants helping with the burn should dress appropriately, wear leather boots, and bring leather gloves.
To reach the Circle S Feed Company, from the intersection of Missouri H and Missouri 82 go west on Missouri 82 about 1,200 feet, turn south on 275 Road almost a mile. Circle S is on the left.
