Students to Pitch Business Dreams to Share $30,000

The University of Missouri is helping students become future business owners. For example, Libby Martin, a College of Veterinary Medicine student and founder of Calving Technologies, won last year's Mizzou Entrepreneur Quest (EQ) Student Accelerator
Program. The EQ program is an opportunity for Mizzou students from any degree program to learn how to translate their innovative ideas into viable business models ready to pitch for startup funding.
Applicants for this year's EQ program must first present their business startup ideas to a panel of judges in an elevator-pitch style competition. The panel, formed of business owners and entrepreneurs, will select 10 student teams from this initial competition to
participate in an eight-week program. The program will include educational workshops and mentoring from alumni, industry leaders, investors and subject-matter experts.
Following the eight weeks, a second judged pitch competition will determine the top three student teams, which will share $30,000 in startup funding; $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third.
The event takes place from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Leadership Auditorium at the MU Student Center
