Meusch New Extension Specialist Serving Texas County
Missouri Ag Connection - 11/19/2018

This profile of a University of Missouri Extension specialist is part of an ongoing series designed to inform the news media and the general public about the wide range of program expertise that exists among extension specialists in southwest Missouri.

Eric Meusch last week began his new responibilities as a University of Missouri Agriculture Extension Educator in Texas County, Houston.

Meusch holds a Masters of Science in Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, Auburn University, Alabama.

"I worked for 20 years in Southeast Asia with various international organizations in the areas of aquaculture, farming systems, and natural resources management. This work focused on supporting local agencies to help farmers and communities improve rural livelihoods," said Meusch.

His responsibilities include to plan, implement and evaluate education programs to support agriculture in Texas County in coordination with MU Extension Specialists, local agencies and community leaders.

What are some goals he has for the coming year?

"To build and support relationships that ensure MU Extension is best meeting the agricultural information needs of producers in Texas County," said Meusch.

Is there a group he is targeting for Extension services?

"Texas County is an important area for beef production in Missouri, so cattle and forage producers are a major focus. Other products such as small ruminants, swine, poultry, and produce are important on a smaller scale so I will also be assisting these producers," said Meusch.

Meusch can be contacted in the Texas County Extension office, 114 W. Main St., Houston, or at (417) 967-4545.
