Missouri Ag Connection - 12/10/2018

Draft total maximum daily load (TMDL) and implementation strategies documents to restore water quality in Medicine Creek and Little Medicine Creek in Grundy, Mercer, Putnam, and Sullivan counties are now available for public review and comment. Written comments will be accepted through Jan. 22.

Documents can be viewed online at https://bit.ly/2BXLWBq

Comments may be emailed to tmdl@dnr.mo.gov or addressed to Michael Kruse, TMDL Unit Chief, and submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Water Protection Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176. Please provide contact information (i.e., name, address, and phone number) with all submitted comments.

TMDLs provide a calculation of the maximum pollutant load that a water body can incorporate and still meet water quality standards. The draft TMDL proposes loading targets for E. coli bacteria in Medicine Creek and Little Medicine Creek. The implementation strategies document outlines actions, potential partners, and sources of funding to achieve those goals.
