NASS Reports Missouri 2019 Annual Crop Production

Corn: Planted area, at 3.50 million acres, is up 3 percent from 2017. Corn for grain was harvested on 3.33 million acres, up 2 percent from last year. The corn yield is estimated at 140 bushels per acre, down 30 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 466 million bushels, down 16 percent from last year.

Soybeans: Planted area, at 5.85 million acres, is down 2 percent from 2017. Harvested area, at 5.80 million acres, is down 2 percent from the previous year. The soybean yield is estimated at 45.0 bushels per acre, down 4.5 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 261 million bushels, down 11 percent from the previous year.

Cotton: Planted area, at 325,000 acres, is up 7 percent from 2017. Harvested area, at 322,000 acres, is up 8 percent from 2017. The cotton yield is estimated at a record high 1,245 pounds per acre, up 33 pounds from 2017. Production is estimated at 835,000 bales (480-pound), up 11 percent from 2017.

Rice: Planted area, at 224,000 acres, is up 33 percent from 2017. Harvested area, at 220,000 acres, is up 38 percent from the previous year. The rice yield is estimated at a record high 7,770 pounds per acre, up 330 pounds from 2017. Production is estimated at 17.1 million cwt, up 44 percent from last year. This is a record high yield and production.

Sorghum: Planted area, at 30,000 acres, is unchanged from 2017. Harvested area for grain, at 21,000 acres, is down 9 percent from the previous year. The sorghum yield is estimated at 100 bushels per acre, down 7 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 2.1 million bushels, 15 percent below the previous year.

Winter wheat: Harvested area in 2018 is estimated at 520,000 acres, down 4 percent from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 59 bushels per acre, down 9 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 30.7 million bushels, 16 percent below the previous year.

Oats: Harvested area in 2018, at 16,000 acres, is up 3,000 acres from the previous year. The oat yield is estimated at 45 bushels per acre, down 20 bushels per acre from 2017. Production is estimated at 720,000 bushels, 15 percent below the previous year.

All hay: Harvested area, at 3.07 million acres, is up 2 percent from 2017. The all hay yield is estimated at 1.76 tons per acre, down 0.24 ton from the previous year. Production is estimated at 5.41 million tons, 10 percent below 2017.

Summer potatoes: Planted area, at 7,800 acres, is down 11 percent from 2017. Harvested area, at 7,400 acres, is down 13 percent from the previous year. The summer potato yield is estimated at 225 cwt per acre, down 21 percent from 2017. Production is estimated at 1.67 million cwt, down 31 percent from the previous year.
