Missouri Ag Connection - 02/12/2019

"Growing Local Food Economies: Good Food, Good Business" will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Springfield Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield.

The morning workshop session will be broadcast to four sites at the same time and will feature a keynote presentation and discussion with Dr. Becca Jablonski from Colorado State University.

For the afternoon, each site will have its own discussion featuring local panelists and presenters.

At the Springfield site, there will be presentations from exceptional local partners, and will have time for group discussion and networking. Presenters will also share some newly developed resources and emerging programs.

"We believe this workshop will appeal to a wide range of people and professions including farmers, consumers, economic developers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, local and state government, non-profits, Extension personnel, and anyone interested in exploring the potential economic impacts of local food, farming, and related activities," said Dr. Pam Duitsman, county engagement specialist in community development for University of Missouri Extension.

A registration fee of $25 is being charged per person to cover the cost of lunch and other materials. To register, go online to https://extension2.missouri.edu/events/growing-local-food-economies-good-food-good-business or the Greene County MU Extension website at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene.
