Wright Co. 4-H Shooting Sports Info Meeting Feb. 27
Missouri Ag Connection - 02/15/2018

The shooting sports project includes many options for 4-H members. Youth learn safe gun handling skills and sound fundamentals of shooting under the guidance of caring and knowledgeable adult volunteers.

A meeting will be held Feb. 27 at the Missouri State University Fruit Experiment Station in Mountain Grove in Faurot Hall. Drop in anytime between 11:00 and 1:00. Potential shooting sports volunteers work with Janice Weddle, youth development specialist with University of Missouri Extension, to become a volunteer and attend the shooting sports certification workshop.

The focus of the Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports program is the total development of the young person. The shooting sports and related natural resource activities are utilized as a vehicle for human growth and development. The Shooting Sports program attracts new audiences as well as enhances the traditional 4-H club program.

As with all Missouri 4-H projects, Shooting Sports is open to any youth from ages of eight through 18. Wright County 4-H Shooting Sports is seeking adult leaders and youth members for the following disciplines: archery, air rifle/BB gun, smallbore rifle .22 caliber, air pistol, shutgun (11 years of age or oder), smallbore pistol (14 and older), muzzle loading (11 years of age and older), hunting and outdoor skills, and western heritage.

For more information on Wright County 4-H Shooting Sports, contact Janice Weddle, youth development specialist, at the University of Missouri Extension office at (417) 967-4545 or by email at weddlejd@missouri.edu.
