University of Missouri Extension is offering a "Boost Your Brain & Memory Class" beginning at 9 a.m., Thursday Feb. 6 in a meeting space at Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave.

The workshop will meet on four consecutive Thursday, 9 to 11 a.m., from Feb. 6 to 27

The workshop has a registration fee of $40 and is open to all ages. Registration can easily and conveniently be done on the MU Extension website or by using this direct link for the class: extension2.missouri.edu/events/boost-your-brain-and-memory-springfield. It is also possible to register by calling 417-881-8909.

"The class uses a whole-person approach that helps you form new habits to live a healthier lifestyle, remember things better, be more organized, pay closer attention and regulate your emotions," said Amber Allen, Field Specialist in Human Development with MU Extension.

Each participant will receive a workbook including memory exercises, tips on nutrition and exercise, and summaries of evidence-based research on brain health.

"Our aim is to help participants implement new habits to maintain cognitive health while also practicing new skills for better memory. We will focus on healthy habits in six areas: heart health, nutrition, physical activity, social engagement, cognitive engagement, and stress management," said Allen.

Since 1914, Greene County and area residents have sought help from Extension in areas related to agriculture, gardening, 4-H youth, nutrition, families, business and community development.
