Missouri Ag Connection - 01/14/2020

The Missouri Cattlemen's Association recognized four county affiliates for their strong membership and diligent efforts in promoting the cattle industry. The awards were presented during the 52nd Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Columbia.

The St. Clair County Cattlemen's Association was named Outstanding County Affiliate for expanding membership and increasing involvement at the county and state levels. This county also made strides to be more engaged with the community. The county affiliate received a Gallagher TW-3 Weigh Scale set valued at $3,600.

The Southwest Cattlemen's Association was recognized as Runner-Up Outstanding County Affiliate. This county has mastered what it takes to keep members involved, including investing heavily in youth programs and the community. The affiliate actively recruits members at the county, state and national levels. The county affiliate received a Mirafount water tank from Gallagher valued at $700.

The Polk County Cattlemen's Association was named Outstanding Affiliate for Beef Promotion. The affiliate is actively involved in operating the Ozark Empire Fair Beef House, cooking at local events and handing out beef samples at local grocery stores.

Outstanding Affiliate Activity/Event went to the Callaway/Montgomery Cattlemen's Association. This county affiliate started the Auxvasse Rodeo, which has been recognized as a top rodeo in the state. The rodeo has allowed the association to generate significant funds for youth, scholarships and the MCA Political Action Committee.

"Without strong county cattlemen's organizations like these, the state association would not be nearly as successful," MCA President Bobby Simpson said. "The Missouri Cattlemen's Association is fortunate to have great affiliates representing the beef cattle industry in Missouri."
