50 Percent of Missouri Rice Good to Excellent

Temperatures last week averaged 58.6 degrees, 5.3 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 2.45 inches statewide, 1.26 inches above normal. There were 3.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent short, 74 percent adequate, and 25 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent short, 83 percent adequate and 15 percent surplus.

Corn planted progressed to 83 percent this week, 24 percentage points ahead of last year. Corn emerged progressed to 58 percent, 9 percentage points behind the 5-year average.

Soybeans planted progressed to 27 percent, 19 percentage points ahead of last year, while soybean emerged progressed to 10 percent. Cotton planted progressed to 15 percent this week, 16 percentage points behind last year.

Rice planted progressed to 60 percent, 5 percentage points behind last year, while rice emerged progressed to 46 percent. Rice condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.

Winter wheat headed progressed to 80 percent this week, 15 percentage points ahead of last year. Winter wheat condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 46 percent good, and 3 percent excellent.
