93 Percent of Missouri Soybeans Planted

Temperatures last week averaged 78.4 degrees, 0.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.27 inches statewide, 0.52 inches below normal. There was 5.7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 17 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 7 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 16 percent surplus.

Corn silking progressed to 45 percent, 44 percentage points behind last year. Corn condition was rated at 8 percent very poor, 22 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 28 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Soybeans planted progressed to 93 percent, 5 percentage points behind last year, while soybeans emerged progressed to 84 percent. Soybeans blooming progressed to 13 percent this week. Soybean condition was rated at 4 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 38 percent good, and 3 percent excellent.

Cotton squaring progressed to 36 percent, 56 percentage points behind last year. Cotton setting bolls progressed to 1 percent. Cotton condition was rated at 7 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 55 percent fair, and 28 percent good. Rice headed progressed to 2 percent this week.

Rice condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 35 percent good, and 15 percent excellent.

Winter wheat harvested progressed to 96 percent, 3 percentage points behind last year.

Alfalfa second cutting progressed to 67 percent, 15 percentage points behind last year, while alfalfa third cutting progressed to 1 percent. Other Hay first cutting progressed to 80 percent, 14 percentage points behind last year and 4 percentage points behind the 5-year average.
