Lewises Receive Lifetime Achievement Award
Missouri Ag Connection - 01/24/2022

The Missouri Cattlemen's Association recognized Rod and Christine Lewis, Sarcoxie, Missouri, with its "Pioneer Award" at the 54th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. The award is the highest honor given by the association and is comparable to a lifetime achievement award.

The Lewis' run 350 cows on the operation that employs them both full-time. When they are not working on the farm, they are promoting beef with the Southwest Missouri Cattlemen's Association, serving as the backbone of the grill team, as members of planning committees and advisory boards, and volunteering at every opportunity. They each come from century farms and can be found cited in several news stories and local reports sharing the perspective of a Missouri cattle rancher.

"Rod and Christine are faithful members of the association and true advocates for the beef industry," said Stephanie Fizette, Southwest Missouri Cattlemen's Association secretary and treasurer. "When one is asked to paint a picture of the ideal husband and wife, cow/calf operation, Rod and Christine Lewis fill the page perfectly."

MCA 2021 President Patty Wood said it is individuals like the Lewis' that make the Missouri beef industry the strong, sustainable industry it is.

"We are blessed to have such great leaders and be in a position where we can pick a family as our Pioneer Awardees," Wood said. "This couple has dedicated their lives and careers to the Missouri cattle industry and have already created outstanding legacies not only locally, but across the state."
