Howard County Farm Tour Aug. 29 by Extension
Missouri Ag Connection - 08/16/2019

The 2019 Howard County Farm Tour will be held Aug. 29. The free family event is organized by University of Missouri Extension and the 4-H Junior Council. This tour highlights Monnig Industries, an agribusiness in Glasgow.

Tour organizer Heather Conrow urges carpooling. Participants will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Larry's Triangle, northwest of Fayette where Highway 3 meets Highway 240. The tour of Monnig Industries in Glasgow starts at 6 p.m. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes to enter.

The 4-H Junior Council will hold a wind chime activity for youth during the tour.

Founded by Bob Monnig in 1960, Monnig Industries soon gained a reputation as the premier hot-dip galvanizer in the Midwest. The family now operates four other plants across the region, including Universal Galvanizing.

The tour concludes with a picnic at Kuemmel Park in Glasgow. Meat is prepared by the Howard County Cattlemen's Association. Participants should bring a side dish to share. Also bring lawn chairs, Conrow says.

The event is free, but participants must enroll ahead by contacting MU Extension in Howard County at 660-248-2272 or HowardCo@missouri.edu(opens in new window).
