Missouri Farmers Getting Corn, Rice and Wheat Planted

There were 3.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunay. Temperatures last week averaged 59.1 degrees statewide, 7.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 2.16 inches, 1.36 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 80 percent adequate and 20 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.

Corn planted was 8 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 9 percent.

Rice planted was 8 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 11 percent.

Winter wheat headed was 3 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 1 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 5 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
