Agricultural lenders seeking to strengthen their skills can enroll in the University of Missouri Agricultural Lenders School, scheduled for June 1-4 in Columbia.
The program is designed for early-career lenders and professionals new to agricultural lending who want to build confidence in serving farm and ranch clients.
According to Ryan Milhollin, an agricultural economist with University of Missouri Extension, the school focuses on practical knowledge that lenders can apply immediately.
“The Agricultural Lenders School gives participants the tools they need to assess credit risks, understand financial statements and navigate industry challenges,” Milhollin said. “Lenders can walk away with insights and resources to improve their lending decisions.”
Instruction is provided by faculty from the University of Missouri, along with industry and financial experts. Topics include credit analysis, financial benchmarks, loan structuring, risk management, legal and lien issues, emerging trends, and programs offered by the USDA Farm Service Agency.
The school emphasizes hands-on learning through case studies and discussion. Since 2000, more than 750 lenders nationwide have completed the program. Enrollment is limited, and registration closes on May 11.
