August 2026 USDA Loan Rates Now Available

By Jamie Martin

Agricultural producers across the United States can now review the latest Farm Service Agency (FSA) loan interest rates announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for August 2026.

The rates took effect on August 1, 2026, and are intended to support farmers and ranchers seeking affordable access to capital. USDA loan programs help producers manage operating costs, purchase farmland, improve infrastructure, and strengthen long-term business stability.

Among the key programs, Direct Farm Operating Loans are available at an interest rate of 5.25%. Direct Farm Ownership Loans carry a rate of 6.00%, while Direct Joint Financing Farm Ownership Loans are offered at 4.00%. The Down Payment Farm Ownership Loan program remains one of the most affordable options at 2.00%.

USDA also offers Emergency Loans at a rate of 3.75%. These loans provide financial assistance to producers facing eligible losses and other unforeseen challenges.

Beyond operating and ownership financing, FSA administers Commodity Credit Corporation loan programs that provide additional support for farm businesses. Commodity Loans issued for less than one year are available at a 5.00% interest rate and can help producers improve cash flow management when market conditions are unfavorable.

Storage-related financing remains an important option. Farm Storage Facility Loans range from 4.125% for three-year terms to 4.625% for twelve-year terms. Producers investing in sugar storage facilities can access fifteen-year loans at a 4.875% rate.

These programs allow farmers to build or upgrade storage facilities, purchase handling equipment, and make investments that improve farm efficiency and productivity.

USDA encourages farmers and ranchers to explore available financing programs through their local USDA Service Center. Online tools such as the Loan Assistance Tool and Debt Consolidation Tool can also help producers evaluate loan opportunities and identify solutions that fit their financial needs.
