Wildlife species such as whitetail deer rely on three essential resources: food, water, and shelter. Properties that provide these necessities are more likely to attract and support deer populations, making well-planned food plots an important tool for hunters and wildlife enthusiasts.
The Missouri Department of Conservation’s Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center will hold a Fall Food Plots Question and Answer Session on Friday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The event will provide an opportunity for participants to receive practical advice about creating and maintaining effective fall food plots.
Unlike a traditional presentation, the session will feature an open question-and-answer format designed for both beginners and experienced land managers.
Experts from the Valley Park Elevator and Hardware Store will be available to discuss topics such as selecting seed mixtures, preparing planting areas, choosing the right crops, and improving food plot success.
Attendees can also ask about overseeding, fertilizer use, soil testing, and seasonal planting strategies. The free program requires advance online registration.
The event will take place at the Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center, located at 1100 Antire Road in Eureka, Missouri, near Interstate 44.
