Missouri 4-H Second at American Royal Livestock Judging Contest



The Andrew County 4-H Livestock Judging Team represented Missouri 4-H at the 2022 American Royal National 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest in Kansas City. Team members include Ella Fischer, Paisley Nelson, Payton Rodgers, Sam Jordan and Gavin Rhode. The team is coached by Cody Sloan.

Only one team from each state earns the right to compete at the contest. The Missouri team competed against 16 other states and came in second overall, with Payton Rodgers finishing as the high individual in the contest, making this team the highest-placing Missouri 4-H team at a national contest in several years, said Tawnie DeJong, an animal science instructor in the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.

Team: Second High Overall; first in Sheep and Goats; fourth in Cattle; fourth in Hogs; and fourth in Reasons.

Payton Rodgers: First High Individual Overall; first Individual in Sheep and Goats; fourth Individual in Hogs; fifth Individual in Reasons.

Gavin Rhode: ninth Individual Overall; fifth Individual in Sheep and Goats.
