Missouri ag conditions wheat emergence progresses

Missouri farmers had 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 26, 2023. Temperatures averaged 38.6 degrees Fahrenheit; 2.6 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.67 inches; 0.28 inches below normal.

Soil Moisture

  • Topsoil moisture conditions improved this week, with 45% of topsoil moisture rated as adequate. However, some areas remain dry, with 10% of topsoil moisture and 21% of subsoil moisture rated as very short.

Crop Progress

  • Winter wheat emergence reached 92%, compared to the 5-year average of 82%.
  • Wheat condition rated 5% poor, 24% fair, 65% good, and 6% excellent.
