The University of Missouri’s T.E. “Jake” Fisher Delta Research, Extension and Education Center (FD-REEC) will host its 2026 Field Day on Monday, August 10, in Portageville, Missouri, welcoming farmers, community members, partners, and agricultural stakeholders.
The annual event will highlight ongoing research at the center and demonstrate how new discoveries can help improve farming practices across southeast Missouri.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn directly from researchers about projects focused on increasing farm efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
“This Field Day is such a great opportunity for our researchers to share what they’re working on and discovering,” FD-REEC Director Aaron Brandt said. “They’re trying to improve production efficiency, economic viability, sustainability — and transferring that knowledge to producers is so important.”
The event will feature guided farm tours led by FD-REEC faculty, MU Extension specialists, and graduate students. Participants will explore research involving crop protection, soybean breeding, precision agriculture, pest management, drone technology, and advanced soybean varieties.
Tours will begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by additional sessions at 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Each tour will depart from Rone Hall at 102 County Road 308 in Portageville and will last approximately 90 minutes.
Part of the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, FD-REEC manages more than 1,100 acres across five locations. Researchers work to support Missouri producers by improving production methods for key crops, including soybeans, cotton, rice, grain sorghum, wheat, and peanuts.
