Salute to Our Heroes Opening Weekend Law Enforcement/Firefighter Appreciation Day will take place on Aug. 13 showing our appreciation to Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics with FREE admission to the Fair with appropriate I.D. and $1 admission for their immediate family members.
Aug. 13, will offer a great list of events including:
- Farm Toy Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall.
- Livestock shows and competitive exhibit contests include mules, beef cattle, sheep, and barrows; Rooster Crowing Preliminaries; and Home Economic Foods Contests.
- The Budweiser Clydesdales with be on display east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center and will parade the grounds at 5:30 p.m.
- The Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, honoring Roy Sims (Marine Corps), sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass, and Retrieving Freedom, will take place at 5:30 p.m. by the flagpole located in front of the Historic Administration Building.
- A full line up of free entertainment is scheduled including Jerry Frasier, Comic Magician at the Kids Stage, sponsored by Your Local McDonald's, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Hedrick's Racing Pigs Show, sponsored by Jim's Tire Service, BMX Pros Trick Team, sponsored by AOK RV's, Mule Kicker Cloggers on the Touchstone Energy Stage, and more!
- In the State Fair Arena, the MRCA Show-Me State Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Tickets available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.
- Sam Hunt will perform with Sean Stemaly at 7:30 p.m. at the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.

Salute to Our Heroes Opening Weekend Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by GoNetspeed, will take place on Aug. 14 showing our appreciation to all military service men and women! The Fair is proud to honor these individuals with FREE gate admission for all past and present military with appropriate I.D. and $1 admission for their immediate family members. Special thanks to GoNetspeed for providing free Wi-Fi service across the entire Fairgrounds.
Additional highlights for Aug. 14 include:
- Ham and Bacon demonstrations in the Agriculture Building; Show-Me STEM Day in the Assembly Hall; and Firefighter demonstrations at the State Fair Firehouse.
- The Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, honoring John D. Hopson (Army), sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass, and Retrieving Freedom, will take place at 5:30 p.m. by the flagpole located in front of the Historic Administration Building.
- A Military Resource Fair will take place from 10 a.m. -- 4 p.m. just east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center and a "Show Me Strong" Military Appreciation Ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. inside the Mathewson Exhibition Center.
- The MSF Shoot Out Truck & Tractor Pull will be plowing through the State Fair Grandstand at 12 & 6 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.
- Livestock shows and competitive exhibit contests include beef cattle, sheep, swine and carcass shows and Home Economics Food Contests
- Church Services will take place that morning on the Touchstone Energy Stage; Jerry Frasier, Comic Magician, will perform on the Kids Stage, sponsored by Your Local McDonald's; and Dawson Hollow will be performing at 12, 3 & 6 p.m. followed by the Finley River Boys at 1:30, 4:30 & 7 p.m. on the Ditzfeld Stage.
- In the State Fair Arena, Motocross, Final Round MSF Cross Series starts at 7 p.m.; tickets available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.
