The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering a opportunity for women interested in learning how to hunt deer for the first time. The program is designed for female participants ages 18 and older who have never harvested and Telechecked a deer in Missouri.
Before the hunt, participants will receive instruction on hunting safety, deer biology, wildlife management, and effective hunting techniques. The educational component is intended to help new hunters gain confidence and knowledge before heading into the field.
Following the training, participants will take part in a free mentored antlerless deer hunt scheduled for October 10-11, 2026, at Prairie Fork Conservation Area near Williamsburg. Each hunter will be paired with an experienced mentor who will provide guidance and support throughout the hunting experience.
“Missouri has a proud history of quality deer hunting,” said MDC Conservation Educator Ashley Edwards. “We are excited to offer this opportunity to those who want to try deer hunting for the first time or might not otherwise have the opportunity.”
To make the event accessible, MDC will provide mobility-assist track chairs, and other hunting equipment for participants who need them.
