Missourians Get Barely a Day Suitable for Fieldwork



There were 1.2 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Temperatures last week averaged 56.8 degrees statewide, 3.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 2.97 inches, 1.84 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 64 percent adequate and 36 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 16 percent surplus.

Corn planted was 32 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 67 percent. Corn emerged was 10 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 35 percent.

Soybeans planted was 7 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 14 percent. Soybeans emerged was 1 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 3 percent.

Cotton planted was 20 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 21 percent.

Rice planted was 31 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 61 percent. Rice emerged was 5 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 40 percent.

Winter wheat headed was 26 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 53 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 58 percent good and 5 percent excellent.
