MU Extension Hosts Crop Conference with CEU Opportunities

By Blake Jackson

The 2026 MU Crop Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., hosted by University of Missouri Extension at the Miner Convention Center in the Sikeston-Miner area, adjacent to the Drury Inn on East Malone Street. The event is free to attend.

Representatives from the Missouri Corn Growers, Missouri Soybean Association, and MU Extension will provide updates on the latest crop research and industry developments.

MU Extension field specialist Anthony Ohmes highlighted that state specialists Alex Mangialardi, Ivair Valmorbida, and Mandy Bish will present findings on weed, insect, and disease management in crops.

Soybean specialist Andre Reis will share insights from recent soybean research, and field specialist Randy Stephen will offer an outlook on 2026 crop markets.

The conference also provides continuing education units (CEUs) for participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with sponsors during scheduled breaks. Registration details and additional information are available online.

Other upcoming MU Extension crop events in the region include the Cotton Conference on February 12 at the MU Fisher Delta Center in Portageville and the Rice Conference on February 24 at the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission building in Dexter.

For more information, contact the Cape Girardeau County MU Extension Center at 573-243-3581 or email Anthony Ohmes at ohmesg@umsystem.edu.
