Strong Prices at Missouri Bull Sale

Strong Prices at Missouri Bull Sale

By Blake Jackson

The Southwest Missouri All Breeds Performance Tested Bull Sale shows that strong cattle markets continue to support high prices. Even though the number of bulls available at the October 27 sale in Springfield is lower than usual, the sale records an impressive average price. According to University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Patrick Davis, 21 bulls sell for an average of $7,128 per bull, reflecting strong demand from buyers.

The sale features mostly Angus bulls. Nineteen Angus bulls sell for an average price of $7,274 each, making this the highest-performing group of the event. The top-selling Angus bull comes from Blue Mound Angus of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and sells for $10,000 to a buyer from Brighton, Missouri.

The same breeder also sells the third highest-priced bull for $8,800. The second highest-selling bull comes from Beau’s Black Angus of Stafford, Missouri, and brings $8,900.

Other breeds also see good results. One Hereford bull sells for $5,000. This bull is consigned by Cork Cattle Company of Wentworth, Missouri, and purchased by a buyer from Buffalo, Missouri.

One Gelbvieh bull is also part of the sale and brings $6,500. It is consigned by Witt Cattle Company of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and purchased by a buyer from Meta, Missouri. These strong prices show that interest in quality breeding bulls remains high across different breeds.

The Southwest Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association sponsors this event. The group works to help cattle producers improve genetics and strengthen the regional beef industry. Anyone interested in future sales or consigning bulls may contact the sale manager or association leadership for more information.

This sale highlights how high demand in the cattle market continues to support strong prices, even when the number of bulls available is low. It also shows how breeders from across the region benefit from offering high-quality genetics to interested buyers.
