The University of Missouri Extension is offering a free virtual workshop titled “Understanding Your Soil Needs” on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The session will be led by MU Extension agronomy specialist Rudra Baral, who says the workshop will focus on core soil management practices designed to help participants increase productivity and improve growing outcomes. “We will talk about the essential aspects of soil management to help you maximize your farm productivity,” Baral said.
“Whether you are a farmer, gardener or landowner, this event will provide you with practical knowledge and hands-on techniques to enhance soil health and boost crop growth.”
Topics covered during the workshop will include soil texture and how it affects plant development, essential nutrients and their functions, and the role of soil pH in nutrient availability and crop success.
Participants will also learn proper soil sampling methods, including where and when to collect samples, as well as how to interpret soil test results for fertilizer and lime decisions.
“This event is ideal for anyone looking to improve their understanding of soil science and gain practical skills to apply directly in the field,” Baral added.
