The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a workshop designed to help landowners and property managers understand how prescribed fire can be safely used to improve grassland habitats.
The program is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the University of Missouri Forage Systems Research Center, located at 21262 Genoa Road in Linneus, Missouri.
Participants will receive an introduction to prescribed burning, including basic guidance on planning and conducting a controlled fire for grassland management. The workshop will also highlight how properly managed fire can encourage native plant diversity and reduce unwanted vegetation.
Because space is limited, advance registration is required. Participants can register through the MDC event website.
