Missouri Row Crops Showing Mixed Progress

There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Temperatures last week averaged 72.4 degrees statewide, 0.9 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.07 inches, 0.68 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 30 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 22 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

Corn dented was 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 92 percent. Corn mature was 50 percent, even with the 5-year average. Corn harvested for grain was 7 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 12 percent. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 10 percent excellent.

Soybeans setting pods was 94 percent, even with the 5-year average. Soybeans turning color reached 30 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 31 percent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 10 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 9 percent. Soybeans condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.

Cotton bolls opening was 28 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 45 percent. Cotton condition was rated 6 percent poor, 19 percent fair, and 75 percent good.

Rice harvested was 17 percent complete, even with the 5-year average. Rice condition was rated 3 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 10 percent excellent.
