Missouri Corn, Cotton, Wheat, Oats, Hay Up from 2020

Corn: Planted area in Missouri, at 3.6 million acres, is up 4 percent from 2020. Corn for grain was harvested on 3.43 million acres, up 5 percent from last year. The corn yield is estimated at 160 bushels per acre, down 11 bushels from 2020. Production is estimated at 549 million bushels, down 2 percent from last year.

Soybeans: Planted area, at 5.70 million acres, is down 3 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 5.65 million acres, is down 3 percent from the previous year. The soybean yield is estimated at 49.0 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from 2020. Production is estimated at 276.9 million bushels, down 7 percent from the previous year.

Cotton: Planted area is forecast 315,000 acres, up 7 percent from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 310,000 acres, up 8 percent from last year. Missouri cotton yield is forecast at 1,293 pounds per acre, up 149 pounds from last year. Production is forecast at 835,000 bales (480-pound), up 22 percent from last year.

Rice: Planted area, at 199,000 acres, is down 13 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 194,000 acres, is down 9 percent from the previous year. The rice yield is estimated at 8,040 pounds per acre, up 790 pounds from 2020. Production is estimated at 15.6 million cwt, up less than 1 percent from last year.

Winter wheat: Harvested area in 2021 is estimated at 490,000 acres, up 32 percent from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 65 bushels per acre, up 3 bushels from 2020. Production is estimated at 31.9 million bushels, 39 percent above the previous year.

Oats: Harvested area in 2021, at 15,000 acres, is up 5,000 acres from the previous year. The oat yield is estimated at 60 bushels per acre, up 17 bushels from 2020. Production is estimated at 900,000 bushels, up 470,000 bushels from the previous year.

All hay: Harvested area, at 3.14 million acres, is up 2 percent from 2020. The all hay yield is estimated at 2.08 tons per acre, down 0.02 ton from the previous year. Production is estimated at 6.53 million tons, 1 percent above 2020.
