A free interactive webinar will provide insights into Horizon II, a USDA Climate-Smart Commodities Grant project led by Roeslein Alternative Energy. Scheduled for February 26 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. via Zoom, this session will cover the project’s goals, successes, and challenges.
Horizon II, a five-year initiative launched in 2023, is a collaboration among 13 organizations. It aims to integrate ecosystem services, renewable energy, and grassland wildlife habitat conservation into a financially sustainable model.
The project focuses on demonstrating that prairie grasses and cover crops can serve as economically viable, low-carbon commodities while providing farmers with stable income opportunities.
Speakers for the event include Steve Mowry, Director of Prairie Establishment at Roeslein Alternative Energy, and Ben Kruger, Senior Vice President of the Renewables Division at Roeslein & Associates.
They will discuss landowner participation, project implementation, and the ecological benefits of establishing up to 40,000 acres of new prairie plantings across northern Missouri and southern Iowa.
The webinar will feature a presentation followed by a live Q&A session. It will also be recorded, with a link shared with all registrants and made available on the MPF YouTube channel.
Those interested in attending can register online to gain valuable insights into sustainable agricultural practices and renewable energy integration.
