Horse owners and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge this September through the Horsemen’s Webinar Series, a free online program offered quarterly. The upcoming session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CT).
This month’s presentation will feature Elizabeth Picking, MU Extension Field Specialist in Livestock, who will share expert insights on selecting the right hay for horses.
The discussion will include the importance of grass varieties, plant maturity, and hay quality. Participants will also learn practical tips on evaluating hay before purchase and ensuring it is suitable for feeding.
The program is designed to support horse owners, managers, and youth in making informed decisions that promote equine health and well-being.
Since hay is a cornerstone of most horse diets, understanding its nutritional value and identifying potential risks is essential for maintaining healthy animals.
The webinar will be recorded, and registered participants who are unable to attend live will receive access to the recording afterward. Registration is free but required to receive the meeting link.
For additional details, contact Elizabeth Picking at 417-256-2391 or pickinge@missouri.edu.
