The Missouri Cattlemen's Association recognized Ed and Judy Ehrhardt of Jefferson City, Missouri, as the 2020 Leadership Development Award recipients at the 53rd Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show held in Osage Beach. The MCA Leadership Development Award was formed to acknowledge individuals who are dedicated to growing and expanding the association and creating new leaders within the industry.
Spearheaded by Judy, a junior cattlemen's association was founded in Cole County, where Ed serves as treasurer. They were influential in increasing the involvement of youth within their county by offering opportunities for student members to host their own meetings with guest speakers and workshops during Cole County general membership meetings. With their junior membership, they are active in local parades, community gatherings and county events where they promote beef and agriculture
"Ed and Judy both strive to build each member's passion for the cattle industry and agriculture as a whole," said Meagan Forck, Cole County Cattlemen's Association junior member and 2021 MCF scholarship recipient. "They serve as models of excellence that many members including myself hope to one day be. Ed and Judy genuinely want to empower young people to educate their fellow youth and the consumers around them about agriculture, just as they do for us."
