Missouri Celebrates Beef Month with Statewide Events

By Blake Jackson

May is recognized as Beef Month in Missouri, and the Missouri Beef Industry Council (MBIC) is marking the occasion with a series of events and outreach efforts aimed at connecting consumers with the state’s beef producers and industry practices.

The celebration kicks off April 23 during the American Royal Spring Field Trip, where MBIC will engage urban students through interactive activities focused on cattle production, nutrition, and the journey of food from farm to table. This early event sets the stage for a month dedicated to education and awareness.

On April 28, Governor Mike Kehoe will formally declare May as Beef Month, highlighting the beef industry’s vital role in Missouri’s economy, rural communities, and agricultural traditions.

The official proclamation underscores the importance of supporting local producers and promoting understanding of modern beef production.

Community engagement continues May 1 in Columbia, where a local Five Guys restaurant will host a Beef VIP Day, offering discounted menu items and providing an opportunity for residents to celebrate and learn more about beef.

MBIC will also collaborate with Missouri Farmers Care and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, connecting with fans through interactive exhibits, recipe ideas, and educational materials.

Throughout the month, MBIC will expand its outreach through digital campaigns focused on grilling, meal inspiration, and the nutritional value of beef.

Additional support will come through education and promotion grants that help local organizations host events, tastings, and learning opportunities across the state.

The initiative will extend into June with a Farm to Fork Camp in Mexico, Missouri, offering youth hands-on experiences in livestock production and cooking, continuing to build connections between consumers and agriculture.
