Missouri farmers are facing challenges this year due to unseasonably warm weather. The warm weather has caused crops to grow smaller and has also affected turnout at fall activities, such as pumpkin patches and apple orchards.
One farmer, Charles Davis, has seen a decrease in the number of apples produced at his orchard. He says that the warm weather and drought conditions this summer have caused the apple-picking season to end early.
Another farmer, Steven Sapp, has had to source pumpkins from other growers this year. He says that the hot, dry weather this summer and heavy rainfall during a one-week period in August have affected his pumpkin crop.
Other pumpkin farmers have also seen their crops affected by the unseasonably warm weather. Duane Brune, owner of Pin Oak Farms, says that his pumpkins are smaller than normal this year because of the dry weather. He also says that the warm weather is discouraging people from staying at his farm for long periods of time.
Despite the challenges, some farmers are still seeing success. Bryan Boeckmann, owner of Beyond the Barn, says that his pumpkin crop is smaller this year, but that the pumpkins are larger than normal. He also says that turnout at his farm has been like last year.
Overall, the unseasonably warm weather has caused challenges for Missouri farmers this year. However, some farmers are still finding ways to succeed.
