Missouri State Fair scholarships for 4-H and FFA members

Missouri State Fair scholarships for 4-H and FFA members

By Blake Jackson

The Missouri State Fair Foundation’s Youth in Agriculture Committee offers scholarships to high school seniors who are active members of 4-H or FFA and have participated in the Missouri State Fair as youth exhibitors. The funds for these scholarships are raised through a commission on livestock sales at the Sale of Champions, an auction of a commemorative belt buckle, and donations made to Youth in Agriculture.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a high school senior at the time of application.
  • Be an active 4-H or FFA member during the time the scholarship is awarded.
  • Have participated as a youth exhibitor in the Missouri State Fair in either the FFA or 4-H divisions (livestock and/or building).
  • Plan to enroll in an accredited community college, college, or university for the fall and/or spring semester immediately following high school graduation.

Applications must be postmarked by January 21, 2025. Applicants must submit the original application form along with three copies. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. It is important to have the high school counselor complete the required section of the application, which includes ACT/SAT scores and GPA. Please note that unrequested documents such as a resume or school transcript should not be included.

If a selected scholarship recipient declines the award, they must notify the Youth in Agriculture Committee by October 1, 2025, at which point the next eligible recipient will be promoted. To receive the scholarship funds, recipients must submit proof of enrollment by January 21, 2026.

The Youth in Agriculture Committee will announce the scholarship recipients by April 1, 2025, on the Missouri State Fair website. Applications should be mailed to Missouri State Fair YIA Scholarship, 2503 West 16th Street, Sedalia, MO 65301, and must be postmarked by the deadline. For further details, contact 1-800-422-FAIR (3247).
