MU Extension Hosts Free Cattle Production Workshop

MU Extension Hosts Free Cattle Production Workshop

By Blake Jackson

“Understanding markets as well as suggestions on feeding cattle through the winter are important for a cattle operation to function properly,” says Patrick Davis, University of Missouri Extension livestock field specialist. Davis adds that knowing the financial tools available to cattle producers can also help plan for long-term operational success.

To address these topics, MU Extension is partnering with FCS Financial to host a meeting for cattle producers at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Vernon County Fairgrounds Centennial Hall, 1641 E. Ashland St., Nevada.

“This meeting will cover cattle feeding and ag business topics related to cattle production,” says Davis. MU Extension livestock field specialists Davis and Andy McCorkill will provide insights on winter cattle feeding strategies.

MU Extension agricultural business field specialist Wesley Tucker will offer a cattle market outlook. Additionally, representatives from FCS Financial will present information on financial products and services available to cattle producers.

“This event is free, and meal will be provided with support from FCS Financial,” says Davis. Interested participants must register by Dec. 5. Registration can be completed online or by contacting the MU Extension Center in Vernon County at 417-448-2560. For further details, reach out to Davis at 417-276-3313 or davismp@missouri.edu.
