MU Extension Launches Mizzou Crop & Pest Text Alert System, Enhancing Communication with Missouri Farmers

Missouri farmers now have a valuable tool at their disposal with the introduction of the Mizzou Crop & Pest Text Alert system by University of Missouri Extension specialists. This innovative service addresses the need for quick and accessible information in the field, providing farmers with timely updates on critical issues such as insect infestations, crop diseases, emergency pesticide label changes, upcoming events, and valuable resources.

By signing up for the text alert system, farmers gain direct access to MU Extension specialists' insights, including the scouting team's weekly disease reports for corn and soybean crops. When disease threats like tar spot of corn are confirmed, farmers receive immediate alerts through the text service, enabling them to take prompt action to protect their crops.

The Mizzou Crop & Pest Text Alert system serves as a convenient and efficient means of communication, ensuring that vital information reaches those involved in row crop production swiftly and directly. Alongside insect and disease alerts, farmers will receive reminders for pest management field days and other events, as well as access to Mizzou Crop & Pest newsletters and newly available resources.

To subscribe to the text alerts, farmers can visit ipm.missouri.edu/cropPest/textAlert.cfm or scan the provided QR code using their mobile devices. For further inquiries about the Mizzou Crop & Pest Text Alert system, farmers can reach out to the MU Extension team via email at ipm@missouri.edu.

Additionally, farmers can also sign up for email alerts from the MU Pest Monitoring Network, ensuring they stay informed about the latest pest monitoring updates. By harnessing the power of technology and expert knowledge, Missouri farmers are equipped with a valuable resource that enhances their ability to make informed decisions and mitigate potential risks, ultimately supporting successful crop production in the state.
