A new tool called Feedstuff Finder has been launched to help farmers and ranchers find and list feedstuffs for sale. The platform is mobile-friendly and easy to use, and it can be used by anyone in the contiguous United States.
Feedstuff Finder is a valuable resource for livestock producers who are facing another challenging winter due to persistent drought and transportation issues. The platform makes it easy to find and compare prices on a variety of feedstuffs, including co-products like soyhulls, distiller's grain, and corn gluten feed, as well as forages like corn silage and hay.
Sellers can list their feedstuffs for free, and buyers can view available products on an easy-to-navigate map, complete with product details and photos. Buyers can also input their location to calculate an estimated delivery cost. Feedstuff listings are sorted by forage or co-product type and price per unit.
"We hope to see Feedstuff Finder become the go-to platform for suppliers and livestock producers across the country," said Wesley Tucker, MU Extension agricultural business specialist. "This is a one-of-a-kind tool that can better connect the industry and make sourcing local products easier. This winter many producers are going to be searching for feed, and Feedstuff Finder alleviates some of the stress associated with keeping livestock fed."
Feedstuff Finder is a valuable tool that can help livestock producers mitigate risk and find the feedstuffs they need to keep their animals healthy.
