The Ozark Prairie Master Gardeners, in partnership with the University of Missouri Extension, will host a free field day on Saturday, September 20, at the Britton Farm, located at 22125 Old Five Road, Versailles. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in a variety of educational sessions presented by MU Extension specialists and several partnering organizations.
Topics will range from pond management, orchid growing, worm composting, mushroom gardening, cactus and succulent care, rose maintenance, and woodland herbs, to broader environmental discussions such as the effects of artificial lighting on nature, bluebird conservation, and bird flu updates.
Groups contributing to the day’s programming include the Missouri Cactus and Succulent Society, Missouri Bluebird Society, Friends of the Monarchs, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Naturalists, Missouri Bird Observatory, and the Ozark Prairie Master Gardeners. Demonstrations will also feature a portable sawmill in action.
In addition to the educational opportunities, participants can enjoy lunch on-site while listening to live entertainment from The Dixieland Garage and musician Kevin Wilson.
