Pearls of Production - Cow Nutrition Webinar July 22

By Blake Jackson

Allison Meyer will present the latest research on feeding and managing pregnant beef cows and heifers during a virtual session on July 22, as part of the Pearls of Production: Women in Agriculture webinar series.

The online event is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. and is one of five webinars leading up to the in-person conference on November 8.

Meyer, a specialist in cow-calf nutrition and physiology, will focus on strategies for managing and feeding cows during the later stages of pregnancy. Meyer research centers on how nutrients are allocated from the cow to the calf, with the goal of improving herd productivity and calf survival before weaning.

“Management and nutrition of cows and heifers during late pregnancy can have long consequences for themselves and their calves,” says University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Heather Conrow, who chairs the annual Pearls of Production event.

Conrow explains that the Pearls of Production series is designed to offer both leadership development and hands-on learning opportunities for women involved in the livestock industry.

To take part in upcoming sessions, register online and follow Pearls of Production on Facebook for updates and additional resources.
