Tax credits for urban farms in MO
Missouri Ag Connection - 12/08/2023

The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) is offering a new tax credit program to encourage investment in urban farming.

"Urban agriculture increases access to fresh, locally produced food in Missouri cities," said MASBDA Executive Director Jill Wood. "This program benefits both established and aspiring urban farmers who aim to provide food to the public."

The Urban Farm Investment Tax Credit program provides tax breaks to urban farmers who invest in their operations through equipment purchases and farm improvements. Individual donors who contribute financially to urban farms for eligible expenses can also qualify for a tax credit. The maximum tax credit available is 50% of eligible expenses or the donation amount, capped at $5,000 per taxpayer annually.
