Collegiate Members Compete in Annual Showdown

Missouri Cattlemen’s Association collegiate cattlemen members competed in the annual Collegiate Cattlemen’s Showdown during the 55th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show in Osage Beach. The event encourages young members to showcase their knowledge and passion for agricultural issues through interactive conversations.

“The Collegiate Cattlemen’s Showdown is a great opportunity for collegiate members to demonstrate their knowledge about the cattle and agriculture industries,” said Shaye Siegel, MCA intern. “The debate-style event is set up to facilitate healthy discussions and allow these college students to share their voices when it comes to issues facing our industry.”

Contestants of the event included Judson Mayfield, Southeast Missouri State University; Avery Schiereck, Missouri State University; Cameron Parrish, Fort Scott Community College; Ethan Vanderwert, University of Missouri; and Michael Dieckmann, University of Missouri.

The Showdown, sponsored by Axiom Strategies, was won by Vanderwert, who received a $500 scholarship. Mayfield won second place and received a $250 scholarship.
