The Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council and Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council collaborate with SEEDWAY to improve SOYLEIC® soybean cultivation in New York and Ohio. The goal is to expand market reach and diversify livestock nutrition, with value-added animal feed being beneficial for dairy herds.
The appeal of SOYLEIC® soybeans lies in the innovation it brings to the field. This farmer-developed soybean variety is venturing beyond genetics, making its way into the dairy system. SEEDWAY's involvement further demonstrates the value soybean oil brings to the dairy industry, positively impacting profits.
Dairy markets in New York and Ohio are using SOYLEIC® soybeans to produce higher-value products and reduce milk fat depression risk. Penn State University's study showed that HO soybeans increase milk butterfat content and improve milkfat composition, benefiting consumers and dairy farmers. This leads to heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and reduced trans fatty acids, ultimately benefiting both consumers and farmers.
SEEDWAY is excited to offer SOYLEIC® soybeans to their customers, recognizing the vast opportunities both on the oil side and in feed and dairy nutrition. With the relative maturity range of commercially available SOYLEIC® varieties covering maturity groups 1-7 in soybean-growing regions, these HO beans in New York and Ohio represent the earliest commercial HO soybean variety to date.
SOYLEIC® soybeans of maturity group one was developed at the University of Minnesota, with collaborations from the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the United Soybean Board. This collaboration adds New York and Ohio to the 14 states cultivating SOYLEIC® varieties, bringing the total to 20. SOYLEIC® is available for licensing from the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council.
