Master the berryverse - 6 week fruit farming webinar series

By Blake Jackson

Calling all fruit fanatics and aspiring growers! University of Missouri Extension is serving up a six-part webinar feast, covering everything you need to know about cultivating juicy blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, elderberries, and even specialty berries. Get ready to tantalize your taste buds and your knowledge buds!

Here's what awaits:

  • Six weekly sessions: Dive deep into each berry variety from 6:30-8 PM every Tuesday, January 30th through March 5th.
  • Bonus recordings: Access a treasure trove of previously recorded classes on fruit production for even more learning.
  • Master the craft: Learn about site selection, planting, fertility, weed and pest management, marketing, and the economics of fruit production.
  • Tailored learning: MU Extension horticulturist Justin Keay recommends attending the live crop-specific sessions first, then exploring the recordings at your own pace.
  • Scholarships available: Starting farmers in eight Missouri counties and the city/county of St. Louis can apply for scholarships to ease the learning journey. Get notified upon registration!

You'll receive a Zoom link and access to the recorded classes on the morning of the first session. Register at https://extension.missouri.edu/events/small-fruit-production-webinar-series-berries-and-grapes. Simply call MU Extension in Pike County at 573-324-5464 for more information.

Don't miss this berry-licious opportunity! These scholarships are made possible by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Beginning Farmer and Rancher and Veteran Farmer and Rancher programs. So, grab your notebook, your thirst for knowledge, and get ready to cultivate fruit-tastic success!
