The Missouri Department of Agriculture is cultivating future agricultural leaders through its annual Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA). Held each June in Springfield, this week-long program is designed to ignite the passion for agriculture in 30 selected high school sophomores.
MAbA goes beyond classroom learning. Participants delve into the practical realities of agriculture through firsthand experiences in farming, ranching, and food production. The program also fosters valuable leadership skills and provides a platform to network with industry professionals, offering a holistic perspective on potential agricultural careers.
MAbA boasts a rich history, dating back to 1988. Over 1,000 students have benefited from this competitive program, selected through a rigorous application and interview process.
The engagement with agriculture extends beyond the summer program. MAbA participants actively participate in Missouri State Fair events, gain insights into the legislative process during a winter Legislative Day, and culminate their experience with a graduation ceremony at the Missouri FFA Convention. MAbA provides a comprehensive and immersive experience for students aiming to build a future in the dynamic field of agriculture.
